Do You EQ? - Quilt Layouts

The beauty of taking an online class is that you have flexibility when doing the lessons.  Last week left me no time to focus on my Electric Quilt class, so today I finally got a chance to focus on the second lesson of Quilt University's EQ7 Sampler class.  Lesson 2 focused on the EQ7 Sampler layout.

I got to establish a layout, add sashing, select borders, experiment with quilt colors, swap and rotate fabrics.  Here are a few coloring options for my Sampler.  I had previously created the blocks for this quilt as part of Lesson 1.

I think I need to take a class in color design.  I am so unsure about colors!  At least EQ7 makes it easy to change your mind, and save all your choices.  :-)

The first part of the lesson had me layout my blocks in a horizontal layout.  The second part of the lesson taught how to establish an on-point layout for your quilt.  It also showed how to compress the project files as they get larger.

The bonus part of the lesson had me playing 2-block variations and appliqué blocks.

I have Lesson 3 from the class printed out and ready to work on.  Hope to get to it very soon.

Happy Stitching!

  1. I loved that class. I took it last year and it was so much fun. But I am unlikely to do much with it because I now realize that traditional block quilts aren't what I really want to do.
