EQ7 Class Questions

The Intro to EQ Class was today, and it was well received!  There were a few questions asked during class, that I didn't have the answers on-hand at the time.  So here are the EQ questions with their answers and corresponding links...

Q:  Is there an upgrade available to EQ7 for users of EQ5?
A:  Yes there is!  There is a discount available to registered EQ5 users.  This price is not published, but you may contact EQ to ask for the cost.  Information is here at:  http://doyoueq.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=1363 or you can visit this page:  http://electricquilt.com/home/eq5-owners-we-want-you-back/

Q:  Does EQ come on USB or as a digital download to install on computers that do not have a CD/DVD ROM drive?
A:  EQ7 does not come from the manufacturer on USB or digital download, but you may copy the software to a USB drive and then use that to install.  The directions and information on how to do this may be found at:  http://support.electricquilt.com/Installing-from-a-USB-thumbdrive-EQ7.ashx

Q:  How can you draw Hexagon-type of odd blocks in EQ7?
A:  In EQ7, a hexagon may be drawn using a circle grid in the Pieced PatchDraw Worktable.  Click Block > New Block > PatchDraw Block in your Block Worktable.  Directions for this are described in the May/June 2013 issue of Quiltmaker, and may be found at:  http://www.quiltmaker.com/articles/Hexacadabra

Q:  How can you get EQ7 to estimate the fabric yardage for a binding?
A: This feature is not yet in EQ.  You can add a thin border in order to get a visual on how the binding will look, but this is not enough fabric to estimate the binding.  There is information on how to estimate the fabric yardage in the EQ forums from a EQ6 user.  It still applies to EQ7.  http://doyoueq.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=103  A binding yardage estimator would be a great feature to have in a future EQ version.

I believe that was it.  Let me know if I've missed any questions.

Happy Stitching!!

  2. I might be a little late in asking a question, but here it is...is there any they can get this done for us who have Apple computers? I have EQ5 and several of their CD's, such as Dear Jane, and would like to upgrade, but be able to use it on my Apple Air Book.

    1. Wren - From What I've read in the latest EQ Newsletter, the Mac version is coming in early 2014. I understand it to be just EQ7 - not the other EQ products. I have EQ Stitch currently, but it will not run with the Mac version, just the PC version. Hope that answers your question. :-)
