EQ7 Summer Series - Block 1 Sewn Out

First, I want to say a heart-felt Thank You to the thoughtful comments posted on my prior blog post.  Each one lifted my spirits.  I don't have a choice about what I have, so I just have to get through it.  Your thoughts are encouraging.   :)

Today, I stitched out the first block of the Electric Quilt blog, Behind the Mouse, EQ7 Summer Drawing Series.

Here is my EQ Version and the actual finished block.

This first block was using the EasyDraw Worktable in EQ7.  You can find the blog post for this first block here.  The instructions are clear and easy to follow.   This is the original block design:

I decided to scan in my own fabrics into EQ7.  I've never done this in EQ7 before, but it turned out to be a piece of cake.  I'll have to write a post on how to do it.

Some fabrics I scanned into EQ7
I loved playing with the block coloring using my own fabrics.  I didn't scan in my cream fabric, but just picked one from the EQ fabric library.

With the above block design in EQ7, you can print out the report for rotary cutting:

I cut the fabric as per the instructions, and sewed the the half-square triangles.

And stitched the block together:

The EQ Blog also had a mini-lesson this month to change the block design.  I changed and saved the designs in EQ7, but didn't sew these out.

  5. Having just finished a quilt I am intrigued by this EQ programme - never heard of it before. Looks like a perfect way to plan out the colour pallette before cutting!
