No Flu Here, Please!

In the Hoop Hand Sanitizer Cases

Everyday on the news, there is a report about how bad the flu is this season.  There is talk about the flu every year, but this year it seems to be much worse.  What's a worried Mom to do?  Make a little something, of course.  Can you hear the groan "Oh, Mom!" from my kids?  😉

Hand Sanitizer cases for everyone's backpack.

I found these cute in-the-hoop hand sanitizer cases from Moose B. Stitchin.  I love they they are done completely in the hoop, with no extra hand-sewing required.  And they have several different designs with added embroidery.   I used the "Purell Cases 3" because I wanted ones to fit the larger 2 oz bottles that are available.

I wanted to make one for everyone to clip onto their backpacks - including me.   They are quite easy and quick to stitch up.  I made the blank versions of the cases to show off the fabrics.  My son picked the royal blue fabric, and my youngest daughter chose the pail light blue.  I chose the blue peacock-looking fabric.  My teenage girls were the ones that kind of groaned at me. 😄
My fabric choices.
I was planning on adding a cam snap for the closure, and was pleasantly surprised to see that it stitches Velcro in-the-hoop.
Closure is stitched while in the hoop.
I cut a small piece of fabric to add a loop for a lobster claw.  I didn't even stitch this guy closed because he was small enough.  Just folded and ironed.

When the stitching is done, just need to turn it out a couple of times so it is right-side-out.

I think they came out really cute!

And I made one with UVA fabric and clipped it to my oldest's backpack before she left to head back to school for the spring semester.
Throwing in a little UVA school spirit.

Not sure if it will stop the flu from visiting our household this winter, but it can only help.

Happy Stitching!
