Do you know what this really is?

I had brunch with a friend the other day, and she gave me this little vintage Singer statue.  She said she saw it at a shop, and thought of me.  It a cute little statue, and I love vintage Singers, so I loved this statue!  I told her I would have to share it here on my blog, so Thanks, Sunita!

I had it on the kitchen island when 12-year old DD2 came home from school.  She sees this little Singer on the counter, and before she even touches it she says "Ooooh, what a cute little bank!"  I was so surprised.  I asked her how she knew it was a bank, and she says matter-of-factly, "Well, what else could it be?"  You know what?  She was right.  There is a little slot under the sewing machine for coins, and the bottom of the statue has a plug for the coin access.

Isn't it funny how kids can see things for what they really are, and here my friend and I see a vintage Singer, and that was good enough?  I got a kick out of that.  I commend you too, if you knew right away it was a bank!

While I am showing off vintage Singer stuff, here is my necklace I picked up at local quilt show.  It is now one of my favorites!

What are you working on this week?  I currently have a stack of shirts to embroider for the Montessori school.  I'd love to see what's your current project.  Share your post at Funday!

My stack of shirts to embroider.

And finally, I can't pass up an opportunity to share a couple recent puppy photos...

Shadow is now 3-1/2 months old.
Shadow was resting on my legs while I rested back in the easy chair.

Happy Stitching!!

  5. Love the sewing machine statue and the necklace! Your Shadow is the cutest little puppy (after my own two little puppy-girls, of course). I just finished a smocked daygown from a man's shirt and am working on my 'signature look' for PR&P's sew-along. Have fun with your embroidery!
